ARC Training Centre at GCE26: Connecting, Collaborating and Learning from World-Class Researchers

The International Symposium on Green Chemical Engineering 2026 (GCE26) was held on 6–7 August 2026 at Adelaide University, bringing together world-class experts and young researchers from Adelaide University, Tianjin University, as well as leading academics from China, Singapore, Japan, Korea, the US, Canada and Australia.

The symposium featured an exciting program covering green chemical engineering, future energy systems, sustainable materials, low-carbon technologies, AI in chemical engineering, sustainable processes, and resource recovery. The event provided an excellent opportunity to connect with researchers from around the world, share ideas and learn about the latest developments in green chemical engineering.

The symposium opened with welcome remarks from Prof Shizhang Qiao, Director of the ARC Training Centre for Battery Recycling; Prof Michael Goodsite, Pro Vice Chancellor of Research Services and Infrastructure; and Prof Yan Jiao, Dean of the School of Chemical Engineering.

We were also pleased to see Prof Zaiping Guo, Associate Investigator at the Centre, deliver a keynote presentation, and Hassan Imran Masud, PhD candidate at the Centre, present his research in the poster session. It was fantastic to see so many of our Training Centre researchers involved in both organising the symposium and presenting their research.

The ARC Training Centre for Battery Recycling was proud to sponsor the Poster Awards and Three-Minute Presentation (3MP) Awards at GCE26. The prizes were presented by Prof Shizhang Qiao. Dr Tatiana Khmeleva, Centre Manager, coordinated the Training Centre’s sponsorship of the prizes.

Congratulations to Hassan Imran Masud on winning Third Prize in the Poster Competition!

A big thank you to A/Prof Jianfeng Mao, Research Leader at the ARC Training Centre, Dr Yanqiu Lyu, postdoctoral fellow, and the GCE26 Organising Committee for putting together such a successful event.

It was a pleasure to be part of such a professional, friendly and welcoming event. The symposium created a positive atmosphere for collaboration, knowledge sharing and networking, and the photos capture some of the great moments from GCE26.
